Welcome to Upton Village Pre-school
Upton Village Pre-school…
Upton Village Preschool was founded over 40 years ago, beginning life as a small group of mothers who wanted to encourage their children to develop social skills by meeting other children. Originally based at the Upton U.R.C. church hall on Heath Road and, supported by the church, not unsurprisingly we called ourselves Upton U.R.C. Pre-school.
Eventually pre-schools were encouraged to register with Ofsted and we decided that the pre-school would need to go down this route in order to continue to offer the service to the community. However, rules and regulations associated with Ofsted meant that the church felt they could no longer cope and, as a result, the pre-school needed to look out for new premises.
The Scouts on Upton Drive kindly offered us alternative accommodation and an incredibly warm welcome. After some refurbishment of the building, the pre-school and Rising Fives moved into their new home in September 2007 and so Upton Village Pre-school was born.
Apart from a new name and a new address the pre-school remained the same with the same staff and the same management. The pre-school has an enviable reputation for its caring attitude to children’s education. Our standards are high and we believe that the most valuable thing we can give the children is our time so we ensure that we have a high staff to child ratio.
“The quality of teaching is consistently good because staff useskilful questioning to encourage children to think critically and develop their own ideas. As a result, children are enthusiastic creative learners.” (Ofsted, 2014)
In January 2013 we relocated to Upton Heath C of E Primary School, in a move designed to secure the future of the pre-school once more.
