Executive Committee at Upton Village Pre-school

Dear Parents, Grandparents and Carers,

As Chair of the Upton Village Preschool Executive Committee, I would like to welcome you to our pre-school and let you know some of the ways in which you can help.

Upton Village Pre-school is a not for profit organisation overseen by an Executive Committee of up to 12 trustees comprising parents, staff and community members. The committee’s main duties are to ensure it operates in accordance with its constitution as a charity, to keep pre-school policies under review, plan for any future changes to pre-school, review and act on outcomes from Ofsted reports and respond to parental feedback. The Executive Committee meets every half term to discuss current issues/plans, fundraising and to review pre-school policies. We also have a very important subcommittee for fundraising who plan fun activities and events that help us raise much-needed funds to cover the costs of running the pre-school to such a great standard.

A number of our committee will be standing down at the next AGM as their children have moved on to school and we would like to extend an invitation to any parents/grandparents/carers who would be interested in becoming more involved in their child’s pre-school to come along to learn more about how you can help. I heartily recommend you join the Executive Committee, as it is an ideal way to get to know more about pre-school, meet other parents and feel part of a community. Plus, there’s always tea and biscuits! No previous experience is necessary and you can choose your level of commitment based on the time you have to spare. If you are interested then please can you let us have a short paragraph in writing about yourself and why you want to become involved by Monday 1st October 2018. Alternatively, if you feel your talents lie in finding ways to raise money, we would love to have you on the fundraising team, which normally meets in the Wheatsheaf once every half term. If you’d like to know more, or get involved, please speak to Heather or Julie.

Other ways in which you could support preschool are by joining the parental rota to help at a session, which gives you the chance to see the day-to-day life of the setting and encourages the children to get the most out of their activities. Equally as important is to have your support in our fundraising activities so that we can keep offering a high level of Early Years Education to your children. This can be by coming to our events, donating any spare resources you or your employer may have (e.g. wipes/craft materials/outdoor resources) or by asking your employer about community policies such as sponsorship matching.

On behalf of the committee, I wish you and your children a happy and fun year ahead and I am looking forward to meeting you at the open afternoon.

Yours sincerely

Eleanor Rowlands (Chair of Upton Village Pre-school)
